What to do if you’re lacking energy & drive: 5 ways to inject vibrancy into your life & business

Well being and business education for creative entrepreneurs who want to live and work, really freaking well.

Are you feeling vibrant in your life, skin or body?

Here’s the thing – many entrepreneurs don’t.

We chase around filling everyone’s cup – keeping clients happy, keeping our families happy, keeping the bank manager happy (hopefully), keeping the wolves at bay and before we know it we’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted and a little burnt out.

And without realising what we were doing we have nothing left to give our business. No energy, no momentum, no progress.

In my last post I wrote to you about cultivating your energy so you can feel more motivation to get things done and move your life and business forward. This one compliments that post because I want to talk to you about another element of our lives that keeps our wellness and vibrancy at arms length but is something as business owners, mama’s and ambitious women we’re all subject to and that’s doing all the things.

Hands up if you fall into this often? (my hand is so high right now I can nearly touch the ceiling – no joke in these old Cotswold cottage ceilings really are fairly low)

Rarely do we give ourselves permission to speak up when we’re not feeling great. We struggle on, keep on trucking and promise ourselves that it will pass, that we will feel better tomorrow… the problem with that is that if there is an underlying factor encouraging how you’re feeling it’s not going to go away unaddressed.

Often when we fall into overwhelm, when we feel unmotivated and begin to lack confidence or the feeling of vibrancy it’s because we’re not truly giving to ourselves.

One of our human needs – and a strong one amongst entrepreneurs – is our want to contribute, to feel as though we matter, that we’re making a difference in someone’s life, that we’re making a difference to our own lives.

Yet in our quest for it we sometimes forget to balance out our other needs and its through cultivating our wellness, increasing our well-being that we get to a heightened state of being knowing that we’re not only creating satisfaction and movement forward (in our lives and businesses), but that we’re also creating space to enjoy our lives more.

And none of these things are at all possible without cultivating wellness and creating a sense of well-being because it’s that that provides us with the energy, the clarity and the confidence to pursue fulfilment, making a difference, living our lives and growing a business.

So how to do it?

Our wellness or well-being isn’t just about how well we take care of our physical bodies although that helps (obvs!).

Wellness relates to our state of being and that being, being well. This relates to our mindset, to our perceptions, to our mental, emotional and physical health so its necessary to care for those things as core to your well-being which is core to your progress, your performance, your ability to create and manifest what you desire. In other words – your well-being is core to your business success and your enjoyment of your life.

Now I know that up until now most coaching talk has been all about the strategy but believe me (and I’ve got the t-shirt the cap and the scars to prove it) I’ve been there and there is no strategy – high level or low – that will get you where you want to be without the foundation of wellness.

So, that said how do we cultivate wellness or well-being in our busy lives or businesses?

  1. Create boundaries
  2. Create a daily routine or ritual of self care
  3. Cultivate alignment with yourself
  4. Schedule your time
  5. Set your intentions

1. Creating boundaries in our lives means taking care of what matters to us.

It means making space so that we can be who we want to be and do what it is that matters to us without being pulled away or distracted doing things that we feel we should be doing or feel obliged to do but that don’t really make any difference to our own lives or progress forwards.

Yes that means drawing a tight line between what you’re happy to do and what you’re not happy to do – it also means knowing clearly what it is that you want to create, where you want to get to – so having a clear picture of your vision or goal.

And once those boundaries are set – protect them like a mofo. Stick to them, don’t feel guilty about serving what it is that makes you happy and that you know will help you move forwards in your life or business because when you don’t abide to your own rules – you’re living to someone elses.

2. Cultivating a daily routine or ritual of self care means giving our minds, our bodies and our being space to re-energise.

And it’s with that energy that we can move ahead strategically, proactively and in alignment with what it is that we desire.

And busy mama’s – believe me I know how hard this can be BUT you can cultivate a self care routine with your little ones, or by taking just 15 minutes a day to meditate, set your intentions, to settle into your own body and become clear about your day and direction forward. You can grab my free morning meditation to do just that here.

3. Cultivating alignment with yourself means knowing what you want and who you will be once you achieve that desire and putting being that person, that version of you into practice.

This practice not only helps us manifest or co-create with the quantum field by raising our vibration but it also helps motivate us, energise us and get us into the state of being of the version of you who can easily create what they want.

So get clear on your vision – what is it you desire, who will you be when you’ve achieved that, how will it make you feel, what difference will it make in your life?

And connect with that on a daily basis.

4. Schedule your time.

Seriously something that most of us fall down on but block scheduling our time to get the important things done – the needle moving things – makes a huge difference.

Not only does it mean that we have a set amount of time to be proactive but it also means that we know we have scheduled in time to do what it is that we feel passionate about, to be who it is we really are, to set our minds to achieving what we really desire for our lives.

And protecting who we are and our ability to do the things that we care about are what help us feel as though we’re living, as though we’re being authentic to ourselves, as though we’re moving forward and living a meaningful life.

It’s the kind of energy or emotion of satisfaction and it encourages momentum and movement forward.

5. Being present in the moment means we can separate ourselves from pressures to a much higher degree.

It means that if something stressful comes up we can re-connect to ourselves, re-align with our vision, our energy and our creativity faster.

That keeps overwhelm, exhaustion, emptiness and lack of motivation at bay and without those things and with the energy and confidence, the self belief to keep on trucking we build our wellness muscle, we build our self trust, our satisfaction and get to go to bed feeling as though we’ve had a great, productive, fulfilling day.

Being present in my life has given me no end of pleasure – it reminds me to be in the current moment with my daughter, that the to do list can wait and the world won’t end, it gives me peace of mind to know that my time to work will come but that right now I have permission to enjoy myself and to be or do whatever I need right now.

So there you have it. 5 ways to cultivate your well-being that will benefit your life, your business and your relationships.

It’s a beautiful thing my friends and this stuff is GOLD – it’s everything and it’s core to anybody’s ability to keep going, build a business and enjoy life immensely.

Let me know if this post helps you on your journey forward, I’d love to know if its useful for you!
